Cairo, Egypt –29 May, 2014- Final preparations are currently taking place for the 2ndArab Forum for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ARFREE). High level guests and speakers are gathering from all over the Arab region and beyond to lead the debate on the future of sustainable energy in the Arab region. Final agenda for sessions and meetings are coming together.
A number of high-level governmental officials, field experts and International Organization representatives have confirmed their attendance to the forum. These includeH.E. Dr.Omar Kettaneh, Palestinian Minister of Energy, H.E. Dr. James Moranthe EU Delegation Ambassador to Egypt and H.E. NavdeepSuri India’s Ambassador to Egypt ,, and H.E. Dr. MervatTellawy, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Women Organization.
The Executive Bureau of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity, and the Arab Electricity Experts Committee Meeting will take place on the margins of the Forum on 16 and 17 June respectively.
The event will take place at Mövenpick hotel on 18th and 19th of June, 2014 in Gouna, Egypt under the patronage of H.E. Secretary General of the Arab League, Dr. Nabil El-Arabi and HE. Dr.Mohamed Shaker, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy in Egypt.

About the Forum
The League of Arab States (LAS) in cooperation with the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), The EU-funded project Energy Efficiency in the Construction Sector in the Mediterranean (MED-ENEC) and with the support of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy – Egypt, and the European Commission in Egypt.
This year, the forum explores the role of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and their impact on RE and EE job creation discourse and transformative impact on the Arab sustainable energy future. The forum examines the technical, institutional, financial and legislative instruments that can encourage the engagement of SMEs in these fields.
