Mr. Moncef Ben Abdallah , former Industry and Energy Minister in Tunisia
Mr. Moncef Ben Abdallah is a senior consultant for energy, industry and sustainable development working with several institutions and mainly the World Bank, UNDP, UNIDO and the African Development Bank.
Former Minister for Energy and Industry in Tunisia, he holds an Engineer Diploma from “ECOLE CENTRALE DE PARIS” and a master of mathematics from the University of Science of Tunis.
Mr. Ben Abdallah entered the Tunisian government in April 1996 as Minister of State for Public Participations and Privatization and was appointed as Minister for Industry and Energy from 1997 to 2003 and then as Ambassador of Tunisia in Germany up to July 2009.
Previously Mr. Ben Abdallah was Chairman and General Manager of the Tunisian Power and Gas Company (STEG) from 1992 to 1996, Founder, Chairman and General Manager of the Tunisian Energy Management Agency (AME) from 1986 to 1991,Senior Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister in 1985, Chairman and General Manager of the Tunisian Investments Promotion Agency (API) from 1980 to 1984, Director of Cabinet of the Minister for National Economy in 1980 and Director General of the Department of Industry from 1979 to1980.
Mr. Ben Abdallah has a large experience and numerous publications and reports in the energy and industry fields mainly in industrial development policies and programmes, policies for upgrading and modernisation of industries, foreign investment development programmes and international related cooperation activities, energy planning, energy efficiency policy management, renewable energy promotion programmes and power and gas sectors’ planning production and distribution activities.
