Anita Richter is head of a regional project for climate and energy policy in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH commissioned by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
Since five years, the project supports the policy dialogue between the German government and the decision makers in MENA countries to develop pathways towards low carbon economies. Ms. Richter supports this dialogue with her expertise on policies and strategies for the energy transition and her experience in international knowledge exchange.
Before working in the MENA region she worked in a program on rural electrification in Afghanistan and advised provincial governments on energy planning. She further coordinated EU financed research and cooperation projects with partners from Eastern Europe and North Africa on solar energy and support mechanisms for renewable energy.
